Hello — I’m Jean-Marc Annonier

I’ve spent my working life on one question: what is this data actually telling us, and what should we do about it?

Jean-Marc Annonier, founder of Tech IT Easy

That started at a national statistics office, where I headed a department of economic studies and was responsible for building the GDP accounts of two countries. When your output is a national economic figure, you learn quickly that being approximately right in the right direction beats being precisely wrong.

From there I moved into technology — first designing and integrating systems for telecommunications and financial services organisations, then leading a team of engineers delivering managed infrastructure services, and on into research. That decade left me certified across Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix and VMware and comfortable designing for multi-site organisations of more than 1,000 staff — which is why I can still tell you whether the systems underneath your reporting are up to the job, not just what the reports should say. At IDC I ran consulting and primary research for major technology companies, including the Australian small and medium business research programme. That’s where I learned how smaller businesses genuinely operate: the constraints, the pace, and how different they are from the enterprises most technology is designed for.

Then twelve years at VMware, where I built a research and analytics practice supporting marketing, sales and business unit leaders across Asia Pacific and globally — market segmentation, propensity modelling, competitive intelligence, and the reporting executives actually made decisions from.

Today I lead business analytics for a NSW local government organisation, where I’ve built Power BI dashboards used across the whole organisation, run the ETL processes feeding a central data warehouse, and deployed generative AI in production — sentiment analysis of large-scale community consultations, a retrieval-augmented question-answering system, and agentic approaches to procurement and planning workflows.

Why Tech IT Easy exists

There’s a gap I keep noticing. The tools that transformed how large organisations use data — Power BI, cloud data platforms, and now generative AI — are completely within reach of a smaller business. What’s missing is someone who can bridge the two: who knows the technology properly, but talks about it in terms of your business rather than the architecture.

That’s the job. Making it easy is the whole point — it’s in the name.
